Q&A With Kristian
How did you hear about Mercy?
"It's actually a funny story. I interned at BronxNet in my junior year of college and they had two studios. One was at Lehman College and the other at Mercy鈥檚 Bronx Campus. We primarily did shoots at the main studio at Lehman, but one day they needed someone to go to the Mercy studio. Funny enough, it was only a 15-minute walk from my house! I always kept that in my mind when I was applying to jobs after college and a few years later there was a position at Mercy鈥榮 Bronx Campus."
Why did you choose to work at Mercy?
"I thought it would be a great opportunity for me to transition into another field. Working in production is fun, but very hard and most of the jobs are not full-time. I have a few relatives who worked in higher education and they always told me what a great career it can be."
What is the best part about working at Mercy?
"Honestly, the people. I have the absolute best coworkers. They make the work fun, and I'm learning so much from each of them. I am actually working on the spotlight page on our website! Overall, it's been a wonderful experience here and I can't wait to see what's in store next."
What's something that someone might not know about you?
"Two things actually. One, I won an Emmy as a production assistant at my previous job at Madison Square Garden. I have the award in my room, and yes, I did get an actual Emmy. Two, I am the youngest of five and I am the only boy, so when a 90's boy band song comes on there's a reason I don't skip it in the car. That's the music I grew up with."
What's the best advice someone has given you?
"The best advice I ever got was that life is not simple. You deal with a lot of stuff, but just take it in stride and make the best out of every day!"
